| Just south of San Francisco on
the Pacific Coast, is the Fort
Funston National Park. It's named for one of my distant ancestors, General Frederick Funston, who briefly ruled (and reportedly saved) San Francisco under martial law
after the quake and great fire of 1906. It's a magnificent spot with great cliffs dropping dramatically into the sea below. Because powerful updrafting winds there, hang-gliders use the spot as a launching point from which to sail out over the ocean for hours on end. Fort Funston National Park is not literally the physical location of my company, but to me represents a place of the imagination: A jumping-off point from which great ideas take flight and soar over an ocean of possibility. |
